The Broncos send a message to the rest of the NFL with a dominant win over the Packers, and the guys explain why Bo Nix, the offensive line, and Denver’s defense have this team looking like a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Ryan Harris, Chris Harris Jr., and Shelby Harris also break down the Chiefs’ stunning fall from the playoff picture after Patrick Mahomes’ injury, the Bills’ surge behind Josh Allen and James Cook, and what the Patriots’ blown 21-point lead says about playoff readiness. Plus, sneaky Super Bowl contenders emerge, including the Rams and Seahawks, and the crew reacts to Philip Rivers returning at age 44 — and what it says about quarterback development across the league.
Ryan, Chris, and Shelby dive deep into the Broncos’ statement win over Green Bay, highlighting Bo Nix’s growth, Courtland Sutton’s consistency, and an offensive line that dominated the trenches. The conversation shifts to Kansas City’s unraveling, Patrick Mahomes’ ACL injury, and whether the Chiefs’ long-standing issues up front finally caught up to them. The guys also examine Buffalo’s comeback win over New England, why Josh Allen is playing at an MVP level, and which teams are quietly built for a postseason run. In overtime, they debate the Rams, Seahawks, and NFC West chaos before closing with a candid conversation about Philip Rivers’ return and the larger problem of QB development in today’s NFL.
00:00:02:23 - 00:00:24:26
Ryan Harris
Welcome to where the Harrises. We got current NFL star Shelby Harris, perennial pro bowler Chris Harris Jr. Oh, by the way, he's a Super Bowl champ, too. Alongside with myself, Ryan Harris and boys we've got some big games. Let's start with the Denver Broncos smashing the Packers in Denver, getting on top of the AFC because the Patriots lost.
00:00:24:27 - 00:00:29:28
Ryan Harris
What do you make of the Broncos big win over the green Bay Packers?
00:00:30:00 - 00:00:45:21
Chris Harris Jr
Well I just thought it was a great win. You know when you start out slow. Green Bay they came out with a lot of momentum early in the game. Was moving the football very well. But the Broncos, you know, like they do all year, you know, make a lot of big key plays in the second half.
00:00:45:23 - 00:01:09:02
Chris Harris Jr
But this game was all about Bo Nix really. You know he came out. He was on target. He was moving around, using his legs outside in inside the pocket to create throws. He was pretty much on point with his down the field targets and which he's missed a couple. This, season. So I thought he came out and played an excellent game, four touchdowns to four different quarterbacks.
00:01:09:02 - 00:01:23:00
Chris Harris Jr
And he outplayed Jordan Love, which a lot of people had as a preseason MVP. Top quarterback in his top five quarterback in his league. And, so I say this game was all about Bo Nix and help coming out and showing everybody that he's the real deal.
00:01:23:06 - 00:01:45:14
Shelby Harris
Well, I love that shot he took because I was one of those guys that said Jordan Love was preseason MVP. But what this game is about and what I love, what this game about was that offensive line. That O-line gave Bo Nix a time to sit back there freely, especially after Micah got hurt. You know, prayers for Mike that such a devastating injury.
00:01:45:17 - 00:02:11:22
Shelby Harris
But after Micah got hurt there was no pressure bonuses. Just sitting back there feeling comfortable like you don't vacation. So that's the O-line right there. They deserve all the credit for today. Now what needs to happen is a resurgence of this run game. JJ Dobbins going out is a completely different back than RJ Harvey. They're going to have to switch up their run game in order to, you know, fully utilize RJ Harvey's skill set.
00:02:11:24 - 00:02:33:05
Shelby Harris
But otherwise, man, that O-line was over there blocking people love Garrett Bowls is playing in a first team all pro level in the season. First team all pro level. I don't think you can really tell me any left tackle is playing better right now than Garrett Bolles, the Denver Bronco team. Just be a very good green Bay Packer team.
00:02:33:08 - 00:02:45:12
Shelby Harris
And and that right there cannot be forgotten. We keep hearing all this talk about the Broncos. They haven't beaten anybody. Well they just beat one of the best teams in the NFC. And so I'm actually excited by what this team's going to do.
00:02:45:12 - 00:03:05:07
Ryan Harris
And forward I think you I'm gonna piggyback on what you guys said because I think the biggest thing it starts with Bo Nix I mean over 300 yards for touchdown passes no interceptions. That was prolific. And what I love is you guys know this too. You have to find the timing in football. And he looks like he found it.
00:03:05:07 - 00:03:24:02
Ryan Harris
It's not too fast but it's fast enough to get to the line of scrimmage and always have time to snap the ball and change the play. And it's and it's just that half second extra. He's letting a play develop and delivering the football with his feet set. I mean that's the biggest thing. He does those things I'm not sure there's another team in the NFL that can outscore the Broncos.
00:03:24:02 - 00:03:42:22
Ryan Harris
And then the defense getting after Jordan Love. It didn't happen early in the game but they found a way. Great defense is find a way to get to your quarterback. And that defense did it against a good offensive line in the Packers. And like you said shall be a great Packers team. And then lastly, I mean, you talked about the big boys up front.
00:03:42:22 - 00:04:02:17
Ryan Harris
Give them their love. I mean, Joe Garrett Bowles Alex Powell Chesky former tackle playing guard balling. All right Luke Wattenberg ball so hard he got the bag right I mean come on man. You got miners in there. You got Mike McGlinchey who I think is playing his best football. And you add that offensive line to guys like Troy Franklin.
00:04:02:21 - 00:04:09:21
Ryan Harris
And it's Senator Sutton people. He is the senator on that field. The Broncos had a big win that put the league on notice.
00:04:09:28 - 00:04:12:28
Shelby Harris
Let's just make sure that we realize how many big.
00:04:12:28 - 00:04:13:29
Ryan Harris
Throws.
00:04:14:02 - 00:04:33:03
Shelby Harris
Bo Nix made in that game to win them that game. Throughout the whole game, time after time, it was hands were Bo Nix had to make the throw. And then you know, obviously it was always the usual suspect and Courtland Sutton. But then you got a little little Jordan Humphrey coming in. You know, these other guys making appearances.
00:04:33:06 - 00:04:58:13
Shelby Harris
That's what you're gonna have to see. That's playoff football. That's play off offense right. There is not just one guy doing the show. Obviously you have the main guy, Courtland Sutton, who's carrying the burden for the team offensively. A lot of when everything goes wrong the ball goes to Portland. And that's a great strategy and I and but now once we get later in the season defenses start picking up on these strategies a little bit.
00:04:58:15 - 00:05:06:03
Shelby Harris
Now it's time for the other guys to step up. And that's what's going to determine this postseason run for the Broncos.
00:05:06:06 - 00:05:26:12
Chris Harris Jr
My bad I say about 2 to 4 different quarterbacks, four different receivers. And when you look at Franklin he's showing up every every week. You know, making plays. Like you said Sutton, he's making those big time catches. He's not making the easy catches. He's making the tough catches, over the shoulders. Deep balls down the sideline.
00:05:26:14 - 00:05:45:26
Chris Harris Jr
And ball is dropping them in there. But Cortland you know he's making plays. Man I think he deserves a Pro Bowl this year. If you just go off consistency making big time catches all year long. He definitely deserves in that conversation. They could have 8 to 10 guys make it. You know it's a a lot of guys on the D-line, a lot of guys on the O-line.
00:05:45:28 - 00:06:02:19
Chris Harris Jr
Skill positions where they usually hate. But, you know, Pat, Pat will probably get in there, caught. But, you know, they should have a lot of guys, man should have a guy. A lot of guys represent them. And, all pro, bowls, like you said, he's balling. Minors is up probably a lot for guard.
00:06:02:21 - 00:06:17:00
Chris Harris Jr
So they should have a they should have a, Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Of also pro they should have a lot of awards coming this season. And, that's usually what happens when you have a good year, man. When you have a good season, winning season a lot of guys get those accolades. I think a.
00:06:17:00 - 00:06:20:21
Shelby Harris
Lot of that they would trade all that, though, for postseason success.
00:06:20:27 - 00:06:21:05
Ryan Harris
Oh yeah.
00:06:21:07 - 00:06:38:15
Shelby Harris
I don't I don't think there's any question right now what the goal is for this Denver Bronco team. Nobody's there for their awards. Nobody's there for the love from everybody else. They're there to go win the championship. And that's their goal. And and they're prepared for it right now with the way they're playing football.
00:06:38:18 - 00:06:55:19
Ryan Harris
And the fact that they were down and it didn't faze them. I mean, we've all been on the field. That's a different team when they're down and it doesn't stop their confidence that that affects the game. And it did against the Packers. So not only are they not looking for the accolades, they also aren't afraid of the work.
00:06:55:22 - 00:06:58:15
Ryan Harris
And that's exactly how you win a championship.
00:06:58:17 - 00:07:21:23
Shelby Harris
There was a big part of that game where the Packers had a chance to go up two scores, and as I said, and I was in the second half and the and the Denver Broncos shut it down, got the ball back and took the lead years before that to into a two score game. This Denver Bronco team they they're changing the tides a little bit I I'd be a little worried if I was everybody else right now.
00:07:21:26 - 00:07:39:19
Chris Harris Jr
I mean it kind of started with Pat but that pick you know game changing pick may not lay out on a deep ball that was huge. Watson, you know, if I'm if I'm a quarterback, I'd be kind of mad because he did he didn't attack the football. He kind of faded away, which that's what most receivers do.
00:07:39:21 - 00:07:56:04
Chris Harris Jr
On those post routes. And as a DB, we're taught to kind of slip underneath them like Pat beard and able to make that play. So that was huge for the game. Moss had a big play to kind of kind of almost seal the game. And I keep picking on my guy, you know, on that. I was kind of tough.
00:07:56:04 - 00:08:15:23
Chris Harris Jr
But, you know, you can't run with this arm, holding his arm down for like, more than five, yards or they're going to call it. So you gotta you gotta he can do it, but he has to be a little bit more sneaky, right, to avoid those, picks. So Moss is getting better at, holding. But, you know, it's it's kind of an art to it at DB, right?
00:08:15:23 - 00:08:22:21
Chris Harris Jr
Same thing at the O-line that y'all probably have, right? You probably got some sneaky holes for Shelvey. It's the same way I corner.
00:08:22:24 - 00:08:44:15
Ryan Harris
Hey you know I did not get called for a holding the entire 2015 season when we won a Super Bowl. Amazing how that happens, you know what I mean. But to your point I mean, Riley Moss is high point in the football. You know I love that play. He's going to the sideline. He knows the ball's coming. He sees the receivers and he just jumps puts his hands straight up and he knocks the ball away I mean that's the kind of nuance play that you got to show that later on.
00:08:44:15 - 00:08:49:05
Ryan Harris
They're not going to call those ticky tech pass interferences right.
00:08:49:07 - 00:09:15:20
Shelby Harris
Yeah. The issue is that whenever you play across from pass certain you're going to get targeted non stop. And then at that point you technique you're fundamentals have to come into play. They're going to be on you because they're not on pass it. So right there Riley Moss. The job already is exponentially harder. But man I'm so surprised I guess I can't even say surprise.
00:09:15:22 - 00:09:39:15
Shelby Harris
But the job that Riley Boss is really done this year is I don't think we really can put into, you know, words because they all they do are going to attack him. And he still survives. He fights, he claws every game. And that's. It's been a bunch of unjust penalties. But what he does though, he gets up and he goes back to he goes to the next play.
00:09:39:18 - 00:09:48:11
Shelby Harris
And that's what you have to have as a mentality, as a DB. And and that's you're going to be successful in this league. If you have that type of mentality.
00:09:48:13 - 00:10:10:03
Ryan Harris
Well, speaking of success, let's go to second down. There's a team not having success. Two teams I want to talk about the Chiefs tough injury with Patrick Mahomes. And then you've got the Patriots blowing a 21 point lead in the second half. Josh McDaniels. We got the information on him for you. But let's start boys Kansas City what do you make.
00:10:10:06 - 00:10:20:12
Ryan Harris
The Kings have fallen. The Chiefs have fallen. And now for the first time in I think everybody's memory their Chiefs are not in the playoffs.
00:10:20:14 - 00:10:40:19
Chris Harris Jr
I said it last week I said it. The Chargers have gone in the KC and one before. Even with Herbert not I don't think he's all the way 100%. You know he's still able to carry the load. They had a good run game. Defense is making turnovers and causing havoc. And you know the Chiefs this their oh lot is is too bad.
00:10:40:22 - 00:11:10:08
Chris Harris Jr
You know it's hard to succeed with the O-line that bad. No running game. You know the way Patrick Mahomes has always been throwing with those little jerky throws his knee, he's always in a awkward position. You would think that he would tear his ACL a long time ago. You know, he he should have to change up his throwing style a little bit, too, because the way he throws is it brings a lot of work and a lot of pressure on his knees.
00:11:10:10 - 00:11:29:07
Chris Harris Jr
So, I'm not surprised that he tore his ACL. It's something that, you know, I thought he would do it a long time ago. But the Chiefs, you know, they're it's going to take a while for them to build that O-line up and, get back on track. But as long as you got Mahomes, you know, they, they're a team that can bounce back next year.
00:11:29:10 - 00:11:49:25
Shelby Harris
Man. The way that he plays that Patrick Mahomes plays, he's always teetering on the line of am I going to get hit hard or am I going to get down and get out of bounds? You know, background's always the type the, you know, behind the, you know, tiptoeing on the sidelines, trying to, you know, try to get as many yards as possible.
00:11:49:27 - 00:12:10:00
Shelby Harris
And so when you when you're a player like that, when you play, you know, you take those extra yards, you do stuff like that, you're going to get hit. You're going, people are going to stop slowing up on the sidelines, trying not to try not to take you out. And what you got here is Mahomes is getting hit.
00:12:10:03 - 00:12:29:20
Shelby Harris
He steps awkwardly and he turns the ACL in a situation where he's trying to make something happen. Teams not balling like how it usually is. He's trying to make something happen. Maybe in a situation where he should've just threw the ball away and he would have been healthy. But this is what this Chiefs team has gotten away with for the last five plus years.
00:12:29:22 - 00:12:48:13
Shelby Harris
There. There's this type of careless play style where you can go out there and play backyard football and get away with it and and win games. And this is a situation where that kind of style bites you in the ass, because you got rid of one of the best all time guards in the last decade. In these last two.
00:12:48:13 - 00:13:06:08
Shelby Harris
That gets the job done. There he goes to the bears. He's having a great season up there that bears Oakland is having a great season because Ben Johnson was there and invested in his O-line. And it seems like with the ways the Chiefs are doing things, they're trying to find ways to save money and this is the priority you get.
00:13:06:10 - 00:13:26:17
Shelby Harris
You get a product where your quarterback is hurt, your running backs hurt, and you season's over now and so maybe you're going to see it probably next year. They're going to have a reinvestment into that offensive line. Because especially since Mahomes is coming off an ACL, that mobility that we are used to seeing at least for year one would be severely limited.
00:13:26:20 - 00:13:39:11
Shelby Harris
And so you're going to have to create a pocket around this man to actually protect him. So he's not doing it five times a game. And so his knee can actually heal up and he can turn back into the player he was before.
00:13:39:13 - 00:13:53:13
Ryan Harris
Well, I think you're going to see the Chiefs get a lot from the time off right? I mean you think about if you've been a rookie on that team and signed your second deal, you don't know what January is like without the playoffs at all. You don't know what that time is like. You don't know what it's like to watch teams.
00:13:53:15 - 00:14:08:28
Ryan Harris
You think you're better than going succeed just because they paid more attention and were willing to take care of the details when you weren't? I mean, those are powerful lessons when you sit on the sidelines for the playoffs. You learn a lot if you're the right professional and speaking to somebody who's not learning a lot, let's hit third down.
00:14:08:28 - 00:14:31:24
Ryan Harris
The Patriots blow a lead 21 point lead with Josh McDaniels unable still to maintain a second half lead. Boys, I don't like coaches who blame their players for their mistakes. And then who too are so arrogant that they're unwilling to realize the game plan needs to change at halftime. Hey, Josh, the game plan needs to change at halftime.
00:14:31:24 - 00:14:40:18
Ryan Harris
You're not smarter than the rest of the NFL. What do you guys make of the big blown lead between the Patriots and the bills? Coming up with that game?
00:14:40:21 - 00:15:03:23
Chris Harris Jr
It's just something that you think you have to learn as the Patriots team. You know you have that success going on this season. Hadn't had too much adversity. And you know Josh Allen comes man. Superman comes and he's playing. He's turned up at the right time. And that shows you around December, January. Usually the best quarterback usually, team usually wins.
00:15:03:26 - 00:15:27:08
Chris Harris Jr
And, right now, Josh is playing at a high level, running the football, being able to make throws all over the field. And, you know, now he's really depending on his legs. But that's, that's that sums up the game. You know, this guy just got hot and they couldn't stop it. And when you got an MVP like him and he's 6566 and can run, he causes problems in the run game in the past.
00:15:27:08 - 00:15:47:26
Chris Harris Jr
And we seen what cooks is doing. I mean 170 yards a game. You know he's breaking every week. And I think Buffalo is the number one rushing team in the league. So that could be a formula to take you far and get you over that hump to the Super Bowl. Now that you know now that Mahomes is out that's a pretty much the only guy that's been knocking him out.
00:15:47:29 - 00:15:50:06
Chris Harris Jr
They should be very confident going into the playoffs.
00:15:50:08 - 00:16:11:14
Shelby Harris
The Buffalo Bills have put their whole postseason hopes and everything they believe in. And Josh Allen and James Cook, if there's any type of question Josh Allen is in shotgun. He's catching the ball and he's running forward. You know what I mean. Like he's going to go get that first down and then they are. The James Cook is having the best season of his career.
00:16:11:16 - 00:16:35:18
Shelby Harris
And then nobody is questioning the contract he got now at all. Everyone's is like it makes sense. This Buffalo team is as playoff ready. They've been there before. And now it'd be interesting to see what happens that Kansas City isn't there. That was their Kryptonite. There was. That obviously was a lot of people's Kryptonite. Was Kansas City. But Buffalo specifically Buffalo kept losing to Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes.
00:16:35:23 - 00:16:54:09
Shelby Harris
Now they're not there. We'll see this week. You know, this new energy that kind of comes from this team. But what we saw from that New England Patriots team, we saw big big chunk runs from Treveon Henderson. But when it came down to it they couldn't really run the ball for a short amount of games. It was always just a big play that they only had.
00:16:54:15 - 00:17:03:19
Shelby Harris
And so later down the stretch then playoff time, they're going to have to be able to run the ball and keep the clock moving. You let the bills come back from 21 zero.
00:17:03:26 - 00:17:04:18
Chris Harris Jr
Oh man.
00:17:04:25 - 00:17:22:03
Shelby Harris
From 21 to 0 for me. The other shows me is that you're not rocking the ball enough because that's that's three scores. But you got to be able to run the ball. But I think this New England Patriots team is going to take note of everything that happens. This is a baby. This is a mike Vrabel coached team.
00:17:22:06 - 00:17:42:08
Shelby Harris
They they know how to regroup. And they're going to come back. And they're going to run the ball like crazy. And they're going to realize their mistakes. But this Buffalo Bills team I gotta say they're looking scary. And they're coming into Cleveland this week just so we can shut them down. And then we'll show the Patriots how it's done.
00:17:42:10 - 00:18:01:20
Ryan Harris
There you go. Oh yeah I think the Patriots showed that there's a difference right. You can have a great record in the regular season. They got their ass whooped by a playoff team who's here to win a championship. And it showed right. And that's the kind of thing that as former players you love to see. Because it's amazing how quick the Patriots have gotten to the top of the AFC.
00:18:01:23 - 00:18:20:22
Ryan Harris
But they in no way are prepared for the playoff football that these experienced teams who have been there before, who've been robbed, who've been in overtime, like Josh Allen and Ben Rob, they don't know how much you've got to want it. And they found out last weekend. Well, we got a fourth down boys. We got to pick some favorites.
00:18:20:22 - 00:18:37:07
Ryan Harris
Now you got the Eagles beating the Raiders. You have the Jacksonville Jaguars putting a smack down on the Cardinals. And then you've got the Steelers with the win as well. Who do you like right now boys for the sneaky best team in the NFL.
00:18:37:09 - 00:19:01:19
Shelby Harris
L.A. Rams baby L.A. Rams. The team that I had said a couple of weeks ago would sneaky pick to win the Super Bowl this LA Rams team with Matt Stafford playing at the MVP level these days. He is the MVP right now. The MVP like he's leading this team. And Sean McVay the coach of the year right now there's like because nobody expected this from his team.
00:19:01:22 - 00:19:19:05
Shelby Harris
Nobody expected him to be this good. You know what I mean. Like this. This Rams team is on lock to pretty much be the number one the number one seed to the NFC. And I don't see really anybody that can knock them off other than a 40 Niners team that knows them very well in the division. This this Rams here.
00:19:19:05 - 00:19:42:21
Shelby Harris
They're playing great defense. They're rushing the passer. They're stopping the run on offense man. Everybody's getting the ball. They're they're distributing the ball. They're running the ball. Now this entry to the Adams now now pump the brakes I'll be a little worried too because Devonte Adams is what gets everybody else open. It's because all of the focus you have to put on the run of the Adams now.
00:19:42:21 - 00:20:04:18
Shelby Harris
So the next couple weeks, the next three weeks I look I could see them losing 1 or 2 games because of losing such a big piece of their team. But this LA Rams team, I'm excited to see what they can do. They're they're battle tested. They play an extremely tough division with two of the best, two other best teams in the league with Seattle and San Fran.
00:20:04:20 - 00:20:13:22
Shelby Harris
Man, this is a team that I would be excited to see come playoff time. Now, if I was the other team, I'd be terrified to see them come playoff time.
00:20:13:24 - 00:20:37:23
Chris Harris Jr
One of those teams out of the NFC West is going to the Super Bowl. You know the Rams, the Seattle or 40 Niners. And if I had to make my bed I would probably go with the Rams. Also, just because they have the better quarterback. But Seattle's defense is stout man with their D-line. Their secondary is is big and fast all the way around.
00:20:37:23 - 00:20:59:09
Chris Harris Jr
Six one, six two corners all the way around with the rookie safety six three. He's a problem. I really like their defense. But in the 40 Niners it's hard to win it when you don't have all your guys. When you don't have Fred Warner you don't have Bosa. You need those guys and the and those big games even though they're having a good a good season parties playing some good ball.
00:20:59:12 - 00:21:18:17
Chris Harris Jr
McCaffrey's balling but they're just not I wouldn't count on them in the playoffs right now you know. So I wouldn't have to go with let's go with the Rams like Shelby. But it's going to be one of those teams out of that division. It's been like that. Usually when those three teams, have a great record like that, usually somebody makes it to the Super Bowl.
00:21:18:17 - 00:21:21:02
Chris Harris Jr
So I'm gonna go with the Rams issue.
00:21:21:04 - 00:21:39:07
Ryan Harris
Well, I'm, I'm with you though on a team that you mentioned Chris the Seahawks people are sleeping on them I know they play later for you East Coast people. But Seahawks are balling. And I always look at the teams with defenses. You know Chris Harris junior made sure I look at teams like that right. Because if you got a great defense you got a shot to win a championship.
00:21:39:07 - 00:21:56:03
Ryan Harris
Provided your coaches keep it together. And you guys that play detail oriented football. So for me, the Seahawks are in there. Of course the Broncos are at the top for me I mean they've proven they're the best. They've beaten teams on the road in London every which way. They've got people's ass. They're going to keep winning. But look out for those Seahawks.
00:21:56:03 - 00:22:14:19
Ryan Harris
That's a team to me. The Seahawks and the Rams that that that division. You might get the NFC Championship game in the wild card of that of the playoffs in that division. But other than that I mean there's problems at the Ravens. There's problems in Miami. You know I think schedule Sanders is going to save your coach's job over there.
00:22:14:19 - 00:22:29:18
Ryan Harris
And Kevin Stefanski Shelby because I mean he's been look seducer. Sanders has been looking like the quarterback we all thought he could be. What a deep ball he was throwing against Chicago. But to me look out for those Seahawks. They're coming up and they're flying far.
00:22:29:21 - 00:22:33:04
Shelby Harris
Hey now we're in overtime. We can't leave without talking about.
00:22:33:04 - 00:22:34:01
Chris Harris Jr
Old man.
00:22:34:01 - 00:22:39:25
Shelby Harris
Rivers coming back after five years off. Guys, what are we thinking?
00:22:39:27 - 00:22:58:07
Chris Harris Jr
I thought he did his job. You know, he tried to come in and give the team some life. He was doing his old river stuff, you know, checking the plays and putting them in the right, situation to succeed. But, you know, he just, you know, he just can't. He's just done, you know? But I commend him going out there, giving his best shot.
00:22:58:08 - 00:23:16:00
Chris Harris Jr
Giving us give him the Colts. He is the Colts. Probably best shot to win. But now it's starting to look like that. Window's closing. But, salute the rivers man going out there and, you know, putting it on the line now, I think he has that extra five years and insurance, you know. So he prolong some of his NFL benefits.
00:23:16:02 - 00:23:22:19
Chris Harris Jr
Smart play by rivers man. And and the Colts they're still down though. So that's, I still have no hope in them.
00:23:22:22 - 00:23:38:09
Ryan Harris
I love what I love what Philip Rivers did. I think the willingness is remarkable. And and let's be honest, there's a lot of former players that after his performance like, oh, I think I could get back out there for a game or two, I think, you know, I know Christine a little back pedal, I'm sure going, you know, from the fridge to the cupboard.
00:23:38:09 - 00:23:56:29
Ryan Harris
Right. But let's see. Week two. That's what I want to see. I want to see week two because, I mean, I wasn't there, but if I am, what if I were to wager? I bet you he had both shoulders, knees back. And he came into that trading room the next day like I, I look at like Chris Tucker and Rush hour or something man.
00:23:56:29 - 00:24:15:18
Ryan Harris
So congrats to him. I love that the Colts did it. But I don't know if Saint Steichen survives. I mean, that's that's a situation there, where, yes, you've had injuries and this is again, another year where you've disappointed and you've got roster issues. So, they need help over there at the Colts. I'm with you, Chris.
00:24:15:18 - 00:24:19:15
Ryan Harris
I don't think they win it, but happy for old Man Rivers.
00:24:19:15 - 00:24:44:16
Shelby Harris
Man, I think this points to the shit show in Indiana because how is it that a 44 year old man has not played in five years, is your best option to continue your postseason run to try to make the postseason? Your best option is a 44 year old hasn't played that. We know we get lost in a story I guess is great for Phil.
00:24:44:19 - 00:25:10:13
Shelby Harris
Yeah, but what about the Colts organization right now. Like boy that's a there's a failure here that we are overlooking to give out this feel good story about Philip Rivers. Well, how is it that, you know, there's no other quarterbacks you can find that are in their 20s that could go out here and play? You know, Philip Rivers is like just like Ryan said, you already know he was damn there in a body cast.
00:25:10:13 - 00:25:32:05
Shelby Harris
Not to that game. You know I mean he was Dan in nobody guys after that game hurting after getting hit that much. And it shouldn't have came down to going to a 44 year old to help salvage the season. But I think the overall thing that we need to talk about is there is terrible QB development in the NFL that we had to go to Philip Rivers to try to save the Indianapolis Colts team.
00:25:32:12 - 00:25:44:02
Shelby Harris
And so maybe just like we did before, we need to develop these younger players in order to actually have a chance, you know, to win games later in the season.
00:25:44:04 - 00:26:08:06
Chris Harris Jr
Right. The that yeah. Like you said it makes the quarterback situation around the NFL like that sad right now. Y'all can come in here and and start for the Colts. You know any practice squad guys anywhere around the league. It just shows you that, they don't believe in any of these younger quarterbacks. Right? None of the backups are worthy to, you know, or practice squad guys.
00:26:08:06 - 00:26:27:01
Chris Harris Jr
A way to bring up that. You go bring up a 44 year old quarterback that can't move. Like, come on now, I can find somebody out there, create some type of movement offense. You know, a guy that can run, scramble to put some pressure on the defense because when you play rivers, you know he's not going to run.
00:26:27:03 - 00:26:45:06
Chris Harris Jr
Right. All I gotta do is stop the run. And, you know, the Seattle made that game a lot difficult. Very difficult. They would have had to be. Right. And, but you know, that's what rivers is going to do. He's going to take 30s every cut, every play clock winding all the way down and put you in the right play.
00:26:45:06 - 00:27:03:29
Chris Harris Jr
And, I'm, I'm, saying the guy was a the safety's name is Eric. I suck. And saying his last name is African dude. So his last name is very, but, he said it was kind of like throwing a change up ball. Rivers does the kind of weird ball. It comes out kind of weird ways.
00:27:04:04 - 00:27:21:06
Chris Harris Jr
So, yeah, it's a different type of follow through that he has. But it's a it's a very pickle ball. So, but, but he's always been a guy is known for touch, not power. And it's going to show as the season goes on. Right. Just it's going to get softer, softer. He's going to be more and more pics of it.
00:27:21:09 - 00:27:26:10
Chris Harris Jr
I'm telling you just I'm telling you right now, shall we just get you ready. Get your popular ready next week.
00:27:26:12 - 00:27:47:18
Ryan Harris
Well I think the big thing, like you said, Shelby, is the development. I mean, all three of us on this show went from being, a backup to being a starter. And you, that joy that you get and that joy as a teammate when you see it happen for somebody else, you take that away from your team when you bring in Philip Rivers, now Philip Rivers, again, happy for him, happy for his family, happy for the extra year.
00:27:47:18 - 00:27:57:24
Ryan Harris
On the matching 401 K plan. But you took an opportunity for your team to come together by not developing talent and not bringing up talent that was on the roster.
00:27:58:00 - 00:28:10:13
Shelby Harris
But I think what you seeing though, and this like you guys are saying, Shane Steichen feels that he too. And that's why Phillip was there. Thank y'all. That was overtime. Yeah. Hey we're the Harrises. We'll see you next week.
